San Diego Coffee Shops to Add to Your List

Group gathering at Communal Coffee Shop in North Park.

@communal

Happy National Coffee Day! As someone who just moved to San Diego, finding coffee shops where I could spend my WFH days was my biggest priority. Nothing makes moving to a new city more comforting than the smell of freshly brewed coffee and the hustle amongst your peers when you sit at a coffee shop. Here are a few of my favorites I’ve discovered since moving here!

Communal - North Park

Communal is a creative-minded cafe and shop located in North Park and South Park and soon opening in Oceanside. Not only is Communal the cutest coffee shop to sip coffee and get your work done, but it’s also a retail haven where it’s nearly impossible to leave without buying something. The North Park location is where you’ll find your fellow girl bosses, whereas the South Park location is located in a charming trailer with a more peaceful environment, perfect for a Sunday reset. And make sure to visit the Oceanside location this Saturday, October 2, for the opening of their new retail and event space! There’s a place for everyone at Communal, including dogs!

My order: Lavender Honey Latte

Palmys - Pacific Beach

Craftsman bungalow turned coffee shop with an espresso bar? Sign me up! Palmys has recently opened in Pacific Beach and has the coziest vibes! Not only do they have an extensive drink menu, but the food menu is to die for. This charming coffee shop is everyone’s WFH dream and a perfect place to stop by after a trip to the beach.

My order: Cold Brew with Oat Milk

Better Buzz - Hillcrest

Last but not least, of course, I have to pick a classic coffee shop that is on everyone’s bucket list when they visit San Diego. From the iconic tagline “Life’s Better Buzzed” to the most aesthetically pleasing ambiance, you can never go wrong visiting any of the 12 locations throughout San Diego. My favorite location is Hillcrest; it is the perfect place to set up shop for work, studying, or just to catch up with friends. And since it is officially fall, I’m here to tell you that Better Buzz has the best fall drinks, trust me.

My order: Pumpkin Spice Latte

Happy caffeinating!
