Where to Celebrate National Chocolate Day in San Diego (October 28th)

Croissant and coffee at Hommage Bakehouse in Pacific Beach.

National Chocolate Day on October 28th is giving us all a reason to eat (and drink) more of the world's most unanimously loved flavor. Even if you don’t consider yourself a chocolate aficionado, you can still celebrate this delicious day by giving the gift of chocolate to someone you love. To make life that much sweeter, we’ve compiled a list of some San Diego spots going big for National Chocolate Day this year!

Hommage

Warm, flakey, buttery and filled with Valrhona chocolate batons, the Chocolate Croissant from Hommage Bakehouse in Pacific Beach is everything you could ask for in a pastry. Head Baker Justin Gaspar, who is featured in episode eight of the Hulu Original Baker’s Dozen, has over a decade of baking experience dating back to selling cookies in high school, which is more than apparent after just one bite of any Hommage treat. If you are a chocolate fan, this French-inspired chocolate croissant is a must-try menu item and the perfect way to celebrate this holiday.

Kaneh Co.

Take National Chocolate Day to new heights and indulge in cannabis-infused chocolate treats from Kaneh Co. Chocolate offerings include newly released truffle bars, a selection of brownies and cookies, white chocolates, and toffee almond milk chocolates, to name just a few! All of these chocolatey goodies are available for online delivery, and can be found in over 200 dispensaries across California.

Animae

Make sure you save room for dessert at Michelin Plate designated Asian restaurant, Animae. The Chocolate Taiyaki, a traditional Japanese dessert with a modern twist, consists of a fish-shaped pancake filled with chocolate cream cheese ice cream that’s paired with tangerine slices and topped with sesame crunch and miso caramel you’ll want to eat by the spoonful.

Saint Archer Brewing Co.

Sip your way through National Chocolate Day with Saint Archer Brewing Co., while supporting the Black is Beautiful beer campaign, a nationwide collaborative initiative amongst craft breweries to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. The ‘Black is Beautiful’ has flavors of rich baker's chocolate at the forefront, accompanied by notes reminiscent of decadent molasses, salted caramel candies, reduced dark cherries and blackberry marmalade with citrusy undertones.
