GOAL: Katalyst joined forces with the Seaport Village marketing team to modernize its social media presence. To remain relevant amongst San Diego’s array of retail centers, Seaport Village needed to be positioned as a unique shopping, dining and event destination, rather than another tourist hub in San Diego. Specific goals included educating the public on all the center offered, increasing account reach and exposure, growing the Instagram and Facebook following month over month, and driving clicks to the website.
STRATEGY: Katalyst is focused on reaching these goals through strategic social media plans that involve Instagram reel campaigns, giveaways, and collaborative post partnerships. Some past reel examples that helped drive account reach and engagement include, The Most Instagram-able Spots at SPV and How to Spend a Weekend Outing at SPV. To date, Katalyst has helped execute social media partnerships with Marriott, the WAVE FC Women’s soccer team, San Diego Magazine and Locale Magazine. Katalyst has also executed social media plans to help amplify social buzz around the center’s 2023 shop openings including Louisiana Charlie’s, Crack Taco, BEACHCITY, and Malibu Farm.
RESULTS: Since September 2022, Katalyst has helped the Seaport Village Instagram account gain over 10,000 new followers and 18 million impressions across Facebook and Instagram. The Instagram account has sustained an average engagement rate of 4% each 90 day period. In addition, demographic data reveals the Seaport Instagram continues to attract a larger audience of younger travelers from Los Angeles and Orange County. This has been a big win for the center in our quest to position Seaport as a modern establishment in the eyes of younger generations.
