It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…It’s SD Comic Con Specials!

Soon Downtown San Diego will be a buzz for this year's Comic-Con. While visitors from all over flock to the city to experience the fanfare, local establishments prepare for the celebration by creating Comic-Con specials for travelers and guests to enjoy. 

Whether it’s a specialty cocktail, afterparty or trivia night, we’ve outlined a few upcoming specials and events below from establishments in the area during the weekend celebration!

The Blind Burro

In honor of The Barbie movie being released on the Friday of Comic-Con, The Blind Burro will be featuring the Barbie’s Dream Marg, made with Cutwater Blanco Tequila, Strawberry Watermelon Purée, Fresh Lime Juice, served in a large goblet with a pink sugar rim and a pair of pink heart sunglasses for guests to keep for $22! Add on the “... and Ken” shot for $9, which can only be purchased with the Barbie Dream Marg because she’s everything… he’s just Ken. Receive 10% off your tab if you come dressed in Barbie cosplay, only available on the Thursday of Comic-Con weekend.

AC Hotel San Diego Downtown Gaslamp Quarter

The new hotel in the heart of the Gaslamp is just steps from the Convention Center and has some great options for San Diego Comic-Con fans. AC Lounge, serving small bites and delicious craft cocktails, is offering a Blue Beetle Margarita (shown above) paying homage to the upcoming DC film Blue Beetle. The Blue Beetle Margarita is made with Casamigos Blanco tequila, lagoon bay apertivo, lime juice and simple syrup. Upstairs at the rooftop bar and restaurant, Techo Beso, the Comic-Con special is the purple Hawkeye cocktail made with butterfly pea tea infused fords gin, rose syrup, lemon juice. Techo Beso has unbeatable views of the Gaslamp Quarter and also offers small plates and a live DJ. Both AC Lounge and Techo Beso are a great way to end a fun day at Comic-Con.

Cerveza Jack’s

Cerveza Jack’s will turn into a Galaxy Jack’s for Comic-Con with Star Wars themed cocktails including Yoda’s Tears (shown above) made with Rum, Chartreuse, Lime and Simple Syrup, Deathstar Old Fashioned with Bulleit Bourbon, Mr. Black’s Coffee Liqueur, Cold Brew, Damerara and served with a Deathstar large ice cub. In addition to the cocktail offerings, Cerveza Jack’s will be offering a Grogu Menu for kids with kids menu food offerings.

The Deck at Moonshine Flats

They will be serving up Retro Video Game inspired cocktails including Sub Zero, named after the Mortal Kombat warrior, an icy punch with Coconut Rum, Blue Curaçao, Cream of Coconut and Soda Water, Master Sword made for the Zelda fans with Blueberry Vodka, Blue Curaçao, Lemon Juice, Soda Water and Drinkable Glitter and “Cowabunga, dude!” a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed Raphael cocktail made with Jameson Irish Whiskey, Peach Schnapps, Pineapple Juice and Sprite.

WNDR Museum

Keep your Comic Con experience going after hours at WNDR Museum, San Diego’s premier immersive and interactive art experience. On Thursday, July 20 they will host a WNDR After Dark: Comic-Con Afterparty from 6pm-11pm. The evening will feature Comic Con trivia along with a cosplay contest, a live DJ, digital caricature artist and other comic-themed art experiences. Tickets can be purchased online starting at $38 per person. To sign-up for trivia, please email sandiego@wndrmuseum.com with your ticket confirmation and your group name. Alcohol will be available for purchase for guests 21+.

Belmont Park 

Belmont Park is typically full of adventure and excitement, but with Comic-Con right around the corner, San Diego’s iconic beachside amusement park is preparing for an action-packed weekend filled with food and drink specials tailored for the ultimate Comic-Con fan and exciting activations, including a Character Artist, Face Painter and Comic-Con themed Trivia Night at Draft on Tuesday, July 18 from 6pm to 9pm. Stop by Sweet Shoppe for Superhero Themed Rice Crispies and Pink Dream Cones, a pink vanilla cone with pink sprinkles, or stop by Beach Treats for the Captain Cookie, a blue cookie dough dole soft serve – available in cone, bowl or shake. Belmont Park’s oceanfront restaurants will also be joining the fun with special cocktails, including the Big Smash Margarita made with Tequila, Lime, Orange and Kiwi (available at Beach House, Cannonball and Draft), Malibu Sangria made with Belmont Park Rosé, Pineapple, St. Germain and Strawberry Vermouth (available at Cannonball and Draft), Guardians of The Guava-xy made with Tequila, Habanero, Lime orange and Guava (available at Cannonball and Draft) and Lasso of Truth, only available at Beach House, made with Tequila, Lime, Orange, Watermelon and Habanero.

Puesto

Puesto, the much-beloved family-owned Mexican restaurant with multiple locations across San Diego, is offering the Butcher's Mai Tai at the Puesto at The Headquarters location during Comic-Con Weekend. The cocktail is a nod to Amazon Prime’s The Boys and is made with Jamaican Rum, Rhum Agricole, Curaçao, Fresh Lime and Almond Cordial. Puesto at The Headquarters is in Seaport Village right down the street from the Convention Center making it easy for convention goers and visitors to walk down and enjoy the refreshing cocktail.
